The Dremel Holiday Gift Guide: Our Picks for 2012

The holidays are just a few short weeks away and we’re here to spark some ideas for your gift list this year. We’ve put together our top picks of Dremel tools, accessories and attachments for just about anyone you need to shop for. Our must-have tool for any crafter or hobbyist on your list is the new Dremel 8220 rotary tool, but for the person who already owns a rotary tool, we’ve created a list of our other popular Dremel products to round out your shopping list.

For the Pinterest Pinner:
Pinterest is a great source of inspiration. For the person on your list who loves creating new projects with their rotary tool, here are two rotary accessory kits that will inspire them to try different techniques, and share their creations with friends and family on Pinterest.

689-01 Carving/Engraving Mini Accessory Kit 689-01 Carving/Engraving Mini Accessory Kit ($13.99) – Carve intricate details, etch glass, stoneware, terra cotta and more! Contains 11 genuine Dremel accessories for most every engraving, etching, or intricate carving need.

For the Home Handyman:
If the handyman or woman in your life has all the basic tools for fix-ups around the house, the holidays are a good time to help them take their tool arsenal up a notch. And, we’ve got the perfect suggestions.

Dremel Saw-Max™ Dremel Saw-Max™ ($129.99) – Making cuts with a saw can be a very daunting task. At one-third the size and weight of a traditional circular saw, the Saw-Max takes the intimidation out of cutting and enables easy, one-handed operation even when doing detailed work in tight spaces.
Dremel Multi-Max™ MM20 Dremel Multi-Max™ MM20 ($99.99) – Wood, drywall, carpet, soft metals and more. The Multi-Max can cut through a variety of materials while also removing grout, sanding, grinding, and scraping. It’s an incredibly versatile tool that will accomplish many tasks with ease and comfort.

For the Jack-of-All-Trades:
We’ve all heard the saying “jack of all trades.” Well if that describes anyone on your list, finding the right gift can be a challenge—but we’ve got you covered.

Dremel Multi-Max Accessory Kits Dremel Multi-Max Accessory Kits ($29 - $39) – A Dremel Multi-Max Accessory Kit is an essential gift for the Dremel Multi-Max owner. There are four different kits to choose from, and each includes a variety of accessories.
Dremel Trio Dremel Trio™ ($99) – Thanks to the resurgence of the Shabby Chic design trend, refinishing and distressing furniture pieces has become a popular hobby. For those on your list who have a knack for breathing new life into furniture and décor, the Dremel Trio will allow them to tackle multiple materials and planes without switching tools.

Stocking Stuffers
You’ve taken care to hang the stockings on the chimney, but you’re completely stumped on what to stuff them with. Fortunately there is no shortage of accessories and attachments for Dremel tools. The Accessory Fast Finder on Dremel.com can help you select the best accessories and attachments for every Dremel tool, project and material. The best part? Most Dremel accessories cost $15 or less.

Joe Mannes

Dremel 395

Joe Mannes and his mother’s original Vintage Dremel 395

Joe Mannes is an active member of the Dremel Facebook Community, and he loves to help other Dremel owners with their projects and tool-related questions. Joe traditionally uses his Dremel rotary tools, accessories and attachments for “case-modding,” where he engraves, drills, etches, and generally modifies steel and aluminum computer cases.

As a long-time Dremel rotary tool user — he first learned to use the tool with his mother’s original, 1970s-era Dremel 395, that he began using at 9 years old and continues to use today — we asked Joe to share his top tip for keeping his Dremel tools operating like new.

“No joke—I swear by compressed air, the same cans of cleaner you use for computers and other electronics. When used as soon as you are done with your Dremel tool for the day, a good air-cleaning will help keep your rotary tools in top condition. Taking a few minutes to blow any dust out of the air vents will save you lots of energy costs and possible frustration with your tools.”

Joe now proudly owns the Dremel 4000 and 8200 rotary tools, along with numerous attachments and accessories, including a Dremel WorkStation, Multi-Vise, Mini Saw 90-Degree Angle attachments, and Flex Shaft.

“I am, by far, not done buying stuff for my Dremel family of tools. It’s in my blood, and there’s nothing I can’t do with the lot of them.”

Thanks for being a lifelong fan of the Dremel brand, Joe!
